Overview


In Dataforce ASAP, categories are a way of grouping either Products or Questions.

These groups are defined through the category management screen and used throughout Dataforce ASAP in such places as:

  • Product Configuration.
    • Most product lists within Dataforce ASAP will also group products by categories.
  • Question Configuration.
  • Calculation Groups.
  • Product Questions.
  • Dataforce Runabout Configuration.

Additionally, categories are frequently used in the configuration of data providers.


Adding a Category

  1. Navigate to the Category Management screen through Questions Question/Product Categories.

  2. Fill the configuration options.
  3. Select Add Category.

Updating a Category

  1. Navigate to the Category Management screen through Questions Question/Product Categories.
  2. Select the category.
  3. Update the configuration options.
  4. Select Update Category.

Configuration Options



Configuration Description
Category ID A system-generated identifier.
Name The category title.
Disabled A method of soft deletion; if checked, the category will still exist but will be hidden from any lists.
Category Type Decides where the category can be applied, either products, questions or both.
Min / Max Product Count A method of enforcing a product count for a category.
Sort Priority A method of ordering categories where 0 will appear first.
Category Group The category group that the category belongs to.

Category Groups

Category groups are a way of collating product or question groups.

These groups are used for the configuration of the data providers and in most cases are configured by Dataforce.

If necessary, category groups can be added and modified through the Category Group Management screen (Admin Basic Configuration Category Groups).
